KINGSTON, R.I.— The Holy Cross track and field teams competed at the Rhode Island Coaches Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Mackal Fieldhouse. Senior Ella Grey broke her own 60m hurdles school record for the second time in two days.

WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Grey broke her own indoor 60m hurdles school record with a time of 8.56 to win the finals of the event. She previously set the record (8.58) just a day before on Feb. 7, 2025 at the Showdown at The Heights. Senior captain Lauren Clark also competed in the finals claiming third (9.02, PR).
• Senior captain Maura Switzer won the pole vault with a mark of 3.61m. Sophomore Bridget Sachs also competed in the event claiming third with a personal best mark of 3.61m.
• Junior Ester Mokonchu clinched second in the weight throw with a personal best mark of 16.59m.
• Junior Sydney McDonald took fourth in the 200m (27.03).
• Sophomore Gabby Paolella placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 12.80m. Freshman Lily Deforge was right behind her in fifth with a personal best mark of 12.07m.
• Sophomore Angelina Lancey set a personal best in the 400m for fourth place (1:01.46)
• Sophomore Keira O'Connor tied for fourth (1.54m) and fellow sophomore Alyssa Peasley (1.54m) came in sixth in the high jump.
• Sophomore Siena Brunetti finished fifth in the mile (5:21.40).
• Junior Giavanna Ciaravino placed fifth in the 60m dash finals with a time of 7.88.
• Senior Helene Cummings set a personal best in the 800m for fifth place (2:20.22).
• Senior Caroline Gage (3:11.04, seventh) and sophomore Olivia Petschauer (3:13.31, eighth) competed in the 1000m.
• Freshman Victoria McGowan finished eighth in the triple jump (10.23m)
• The 4x400m relay team, including Ciaravino, Cummings, sophomore Grace Bateman and sophomore Cecilia Kvochak, finished sixth with a time of 4:17.87.

MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Senior captain Josh Exantus clinched second in the 60m hurdles final with a personal best time of 8.18. Fellow senior captain Brian Fennelly (8.49, fifth) and senior Kevin Yatsuhashi (8.53, sixth) also competed in the final.
• Freshman Tireni Asenuga claimed third in the long jump with a personal best mark of 7.08m. Sophomore Nate Greenberg also competed in the event placing seventh with a personal best mark of 6.56m. 
• Asenuga (13.14m, fourth) and fellow freshman LJ Hines (12.99m, fifth) competed in the triple jump.
• Freshman Lewis O'Connor took fourth in the 1000m (2:36.17) followed by fellow freshman Robert Foster (2:40.44, seventh) and junior Ben Stone (2:41.84, eighth). The pair of freshmen recorded personal best times.
• Sophomore Chandler Dicks came in fourth in the high jump (1.98m).
• Fennelly also competed in the pole vault and finished eighth (3.75m).

NEXT UP:

• The Holy Cross track and field teams will head to Boston, Mass. to compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center. The men will compete first on Feb. 14 and the women will participate the following day on Feb. 15.
