Men’s ice hockey falls to Bentley

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team was shutout by Bentley, 3-0, Thursday night at the Hart Center Rink.
 
Holy Cross moves to 19-12-2 (18-5-2 AHA) on the season with the loss, while Bentley improves to 18-13-2 (16-8-1 AHA).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Bentley got out to a 1-0 lead with 1:53 remaining in the opening period.
  • The two teams played even in the second period, with Bentley slightly outshooting Holy Cross 12-10, though neither side was able to score.
  • Bentley tacked on two empty net goals in the final three minutes of the third period to extend the lead to its final of 3-0.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Senior Thomas Gale recorded 28 saves in the contest.
  • Holy Cross held Bentley to just three shots over their three power play opportunities.
  • Freshman Matt Kursonis led the Crusaders with 12 faceoff wins, though Bentley held the slight edge at the dot, 36-29.
  • The loss was the first for the Crusaders in Atlantic Hockey play since Nov. 16, 2024, ending their league record 16 game unbeaten streak.

  • Holy Cross will round out their regular season schedule when they welcome AIC to the Hart Center Rink on Monday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m.
