HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Marist led 5-1 early and 15-11 at the media timeout. Green's sixth kill of the first set part of a 6-0 Crusader burst gave them the edge at 18-17. Marist built up a 23-20 lead. On set point, the Crusaders tied the game 24-24 staging off three straight set points, getting two consecutive blocks from sophomore middle blocker Lacey Murphy and freshman right side Madelyn Blakey. Marist won the set 26-24 in extra serves.
  • The Red Foxes took a 11-5 lead in the second set. Marist upped the score to 17-12. Facing set point again, the Crusaders scored four straight points off a block from Murphy and junior outside hitter Taliah Lee, another Murphy and White block, and a Marist attack error making it 25-24. A net violation with Green awarded the kill captured the set for the Crusaders 28-26.
  • Back-to-back aces from Marist put them in the lead at 10-8, part of a 5-0 burst in the important third set. Lee powered a set to the back line for the 16-15 Crusader advantage. Ahead 18-17, Green converted an ace while a Glover mash from the middle established a 21-17 edge. White  kept the 7-0 run going tallying three kills in the stretch for the 2-1 match lead for Holy Cross.
  • Holy Cross produced a quick two points which resulted in Marist taking a timeout. The Red Foxes then put together an 9-1 burst to take an 9-3 advantage. Five straight from the Crusaders put them down three, 13-10. The Red Foxes eventually expanded the lead to seven before winning the set 25-20.
