Green, Russell carry volleyball to win over New Haven

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross volleyball freshman setter/right side KK Green matched a career-high with 17 kills while senior setter Katie Russell established a new personal-best with a whopping 65 assists as the Crusaders overcame a set one deficit to roll to a 3-1 victory over New Haven Tuesday evening in the Hart Center Arena.

The win was the seventh of the year for the Crusaders and most during a single season since 2018 (eight). The setback was the 18th of the campaign for the Chargers.

Green hit .457 in the contest making an astonishing one attack error in the contest. She also added a block assist and a pair of digs. She was joined in double figures by classmate, freshman outside hitter Emma Sorensen (17 kills), junior outside hitter Taliah Lee (14 kills, .323 hitting, nine digs) and sophomore middle blocker Lacey Murphy (13 kills, .440 hitting).

Russell's 65 assist performance was easily an individual 4-set match high in the NCAA this season. She also recorded the most assists in a game since Chelsey O'Donnell posted 57 assists in a 5-set contest against Bucknell on October 16, 2010. Russell (1,392) moved to 10th place on the program's career assist list passing Jennnifer Frank (1995-98, 1,389 assists).
