WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman guard
Max Green has been named the Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Rookie of the Week, for competition from Dec. 30-Jan. 5. He led the Holy Cross men's basketball team to a 1-1 record in a pair of games last week. This marks the fifth time this season Green has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week this season.
During Thursdays' 74-72 victory over Loyola (Md.), Green totaled 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists, while hitting the game-winning shot with just 27.7 seconds remaining. Then in Sunday's 75-64 setback at American, he led the team with 20 points, five rebounds and five assists.
On the season, Green is averaging a team-best 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, while making 38.8 percent of his attempts from three-point range (31 of 80) and 71.1 percent of his shots at the charity stripe (32 of 45).
Holy Cross (9-6 overall, 1-1 Patriot League) returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 8, when it plays host to Navy at 6 p.m.
