The Holy Cross men's basketball team returns to action on Sunday, Jan. 5, when it heads to American for a 2 p.m. game. The contest between the Crusaders and the Eagles will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross owns an overall record of 9-5 this year, with a 1-0 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are currently on a four-game winning streak, including a 74-72 victory over Loyola (Md.) in their conference opener. Freshman guard
Max Green leads the team by averaging 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, while hitting 39.4 percent of his three-point attempts. Sophomore forward
Joe Nugent has added 11.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest, while senior forward
Caleb Kenney is chipping in with 10.5 points, 4.1 boards and 1.2 blocks per game.
American stands 6-8 overall this season, including an 0-1 record in the Patriot League. The Eagles have lost four straight games, and were defeated by Navy 81-58 in their conference opener. Senior forward Matt Rogers has led the team by averaging 15.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while hitting 52.1 percent of his field goal attempts. Senior guard Colin Smalls has put up 12.8 points per contest, with senior guard Elijah Stephens adding 10.5 points and 3.0 assists per game.
After the contest at American, Holy Cross will return home to face Navy at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
