PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Holy Cross women's hockey team hit the road to take on Providence for game one of two on Friday, Jan. 10. The Friars swept the weekend series taking game two 1-0 in a close battle.

BETWEEN THE PIPES:

• Holy Cross: Abby Hornung (L, 4-10-0), 30 saves 
• Providence: Hope Walinski (W, 10-7-3), 21 saves 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Neither team scored in the first period. Hornung made 10 saves to Walinski's eight.
• Just under two minutes into the second period, Providence's Lily Hendrikson scored on her own.
• Neither team scored in the third period. The Friars took the 1-0 win over the Crusaders.
• Providence led Holy Cross 31-21 in shots on goal and 26-20 in face-offs to conclude the game. 

UP NEXT: 

• The Crusaders return to action on Friday, Jan. 17 for game one of two against Merrimack at 6:00 pm. in the Hart Center Rink.
