Women’s basketball hosts Lafayette Saturday afternoon

The Holy Cross women's basketball team will host Patriot League foe Lafayette on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. in the Hart Center Arena. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.
 
Saturday is Healthcare Heroes and Team Impact Day in the Hart Center. All healthcare workers are eligible to claim two complimentary tickets to the game and the option to purchase additional tickets at a discounted rate. Holy Cross will also celebrate their teammates from Team Impact during the game.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (9-5, 2-1 PL): 
  • Holy Cross fell 67-56 to Navy on Wednesday evening. The Crusaders trailed by as many as 18 points and trimmed the deficit to four in the fourth quarter, but Navy held on for the win. Junior Simone Foreman double-doubled for the third straight game with a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds to go with a pair of steals.
  • Foreman was named Patriot League Honorable Mention on Monday. In a 2-0 week for the Crusaders, she averaged 18.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game.
  • Over her last three games all double-double efforts, Foreman is averaging 19.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game on 40.7 (22-of-54) percent shooting.
  • Holy Cross is one of the most disciplined teams in the NCAA as they rank 12th in the nation in fouls per game (13.4) which is second in the Patriot League.
  • The Crusaders have only had their shot blocked 23 times this season which is third fewest in the NCAA.
  • Over the last three seasons, Holy Cross is 41-12 (.774) at home in the Hart Center Arena compared to 32-25 (.561) on the road.
SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS (4-10, 1-2 PL): 
  • Lafayette has lost four of their last five games including a 64-48 loss to league opponent Bucknell on Wednesday evening. Emma Shields was the leading scorer for the Leopards with eight points and five rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench.
  • Abby Antognoli is the Patriot League leader in minutes per game (35.9) which ranks 20th in the NCAA. She ranks third in the Patriot League in assists per game (3.6), assists (51), three-point attempts (88) and fourth in three-pointers (30).
  • As a team, Lafayette ranks last in the nation (353rd of 353rd) in turnovers forced per game (11.7), they also rank last in free throw attempts per game (8.3), but rarely foul opponents coming in at third in the country in fouls per game (12.4) which is tops in the conference.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • The Crusaders are 67-12 (.848) in the series history against the Leopards which began in 1986. Holy Cross is 33-4 (.892) against Lafayette in the Hart Center Arena.   
  • In their last meeting on March 6, 2024, Holy Cross earned a 77-69 win in Worcester en route to claiming the Patriot League Regular-Season Championship.
