TROY, N.Y. – The Holy Cross women's hockey team split the season opening series at RPI with a 2-0 loss on the road.

BETWEEN THE PIPES:

• Holy Cross: Brooke Loranger (L, 1-1), 18 saves
• RPI: Reese Keating (W, 1-1), 19 saves

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• RPI got on the board early with a goal by Andrea Trnková at 5:54 for the 1-0 lead to end the first period.
• In the second period, Trnková converted on the power-play at 9:51 to extend the Engineers lead to 2-0.
• Neither team scored in the third period. The Engineers took the 2-0 win over the Crusaders
• Holy Cross led RPI 45-40 in shots and the Engineers had the 37-11 advantage in face-offs to conclude the competition.

UP NEXT: 

• The Crusaders return to the Hart Center Rink for their home opener against St. Anselm on Friday, Oct. 4 at 6:00 p.m.
