HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Orange scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter and added another in the opening seconds of the second quarter to build an early 21-0 lead.
- Just over a minute later, senior quarterback Joe Pesansky connected with Mosey on a 63-yard touchdown pass, helping the Crusaders cut within 21-7 with 13:34 left in the first half.
- After taking the snap from the shotgun, Pesansky tossed the ball behind him to junior running back Sam Slade. He rolled to his right, sending a throw right into the hands of a wide-open Petersen, who strolled into the end zone to bring Holy Cross within 21-14.
- Syracuse scored on a four-yard pass with 32 seconds remaining in the second quarter to push their halftime lead to 28-14.
- Holy Cross came up with a number of stops throughout the third quarter to stay within striking distance. On the opening drive of the second half, an Orange touchdown was taken off the board after a Syracuse penalty and Jarmolowich picked off a pass at the 30-yard line to give the Crusaders the ball back. Later in the third, junior defensive end Colin Reynolds got his hand on a field goal attempt, blocking the 28-yard try and keeping the score knotted at 28-14.
- Holy Cross was unable to capitalize on the Syracuse miscues, and the Orange took a 35-14 lead as time expired in the third with a one-yard touchdown rush. With 9:58 remaining, the Orange had a 33–yard pick six to extend their lead to 42-14.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Mosey has now had over 100 receiving yards in back-to-back games after totaling 129 in last week's game at Yale.
UP NEXT:
- Holy Cross commences Patriot League play on Saturday, Oct. 5 with a road contest at Colgate.
- Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Hamilton, N.Y.
