WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team opened their patriot league schedule by hosting Lafayette on Saturday night. A strong team effort led the Crusaders to a 1-0 win over the Leopards.

IN GOAL:

• Holy Cross: Julia Walsh (W, 4-4), 7 saves
• Lafayette: Catherine Apker (L, 3-3), 7 saves

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• At 18:26, sophomore Karenna Beckstein netted her first goal of the season off a header sent in from fellow sophomore Charlotte Hanchar and freshman Ava Graham. 
• The Leopards led the Crusaders 11-5 in shots while each team had three corners a piece through 45 minutes. 
• Neither team scored in the second half with strong play coming from the Crusader defense. Holy Cross came out with the 1-0 win with Beckstein scoring the game-winner and Walsh picking up her fourth clean sheet of the season.
• Holy Cross led Lafayette led Holy Cross 18-13 in shots and 8-6 in corners to conclude the game. The Crusaders had the 8-7 advantage in shots on goal.
