WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross field hockey team was shutout by Lafayette, 3-0, on Friday afternoon at the Hart Turf Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The two teams were scoreless through the first quarter before Lafayette found the back of the net with just over one minute remaining in the second quarter.
- Lafayette was awarded a penalty stroke just over five minutes into the third quarter - which they converted on – to extend the lead to 2-0.
- Lafayette scored their third, and final, goal with just under three minutes remaining in the third quarter.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Freshman netminder Mia McCloskey finished the afternoon with 11 saves – a career and season high. McCloskey sits in second in the Patriot League in saves per game (6.33), third in save percentage (.731) and fourth in goals-against (2.27).
- Holy Cross held the slight edge in penalty corners, 6-5.

- Holy Cross will travel to Providence, R.I. on Sunday, Sept. 22 to face Providence at 1 p.m.
