LEWISBURG, Pa. – Holy Cross volleyball freshman outside hitter
Gabby Wold recorded her fifth double-double of the season with game-highs in kills and digs, however, the Crusaders fell 3-0 to Patriot League opponent Bucknell Friday in Davis Gymnasium.
The loss was the eighth of the year for Holy Cross as they drop to 0-1 in conference action. Bucknell captured their ninth straight win moving to 9-1 and 1-0 in league play.

Lauren Halverson tallied a season-best six kills while sophomore
Emma Halstead matched a personal-best with five kills.

Bison 3, Crusaders 0 (20-25, 17-25, 16-25)
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- Halstead smoked a ball down the line to pull the Crusaders within two, 5-3. Bucknell built their lead to 10-6. Senior setter Sarah Stokes set up Wold for her third kill of the match putting Holy Cross behind three, 13-10. Back-to-back kills by Halverson and Wold dropped the margin to 17-15 in favor of Bucknell. The Bison were up five 23-18 until two Crusader markers made it 23-20. Bucknell notched the final two points for the first set win.
- Holy Cross led 5-4 when Wold tipped the ball down the line in the second set. With the set leveled at 6-6 Bucknell produced four straight points for the 10-6 edge. The set of runs continued when Halverson connected on a swing making it 10-9. Trailing by four, Holy Cross tied the score 13-13 with a pair of kills from Halstead with a Halstead and senior Rian Millership block. Bucknell responded with a 12-4 outburst to take a 2-0 match lead.
- The run continued into the third set when the Bison led 9-0. Wold stopped the run on the left pin notching her 10th kill of the match. Holy Cross dropped the margin to six, 14-8 thanks to a Halverson mash. A Bucknell ace increased the score to 20-10. Holy Cross made a late push until Bucknell clinched the match.
INSIDE THE BOX:
- Both teams combined for 20 service errors in the match with 10 coming in the first set. There were only three aces in the match all aces happened in the third set.
- Freshman Alana Whitwell made her first collegiate start at libero producing 12 digs.
- After having six reception errors in their last match, Wold was a perfect 31-for-31 (100%) on receptions. It was the second time over the last three games she's produced a perfect reception percentage (at Merrimack 34-of-34, 100%). Â Â
