Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Crusaders drop heartbreaker on the road to UNH

DURHAM, N.H. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team traveled to Wildcat Stadium and fell short 3-2 to New Hampshire (UNH) on early Sunday afternoon.

IN GOAL:

  • Holy Cross: Olivia Dubin (L, 0-1), 3 saves
  • UNH: Sally Rainey (W, 2-0), 2 saves

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • In the first half, freshman Nadia Cassamajor netted her first collegiate goal off a free kick, fed in by sophomore Mary Sommer, at 36:57 to take a 1-0 lead.
  • The Wildcats led the Crusaders 11-2 in shots and 4-0 in corners through 45 minutes. 
  • In the second half, the Wildcats Meghan Guarente equalized on a penalty kick at 57:50. Freshman Ava Graham scored her first career goal, taking it on her own, at 71:24 to reclaim the lead. UNH had a late comeback surge with back-to-back Delaney Lappin goals in the last five minutes of play to pull out the 3-2 win.
  • The Wildcats ended the game with a 21-5 advantage in shots and 5-3 in corners.
