WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross softball team looked to take the season series against Patriot League foe Colgate on Sunday, however they were defeated 1-0 by the Raiders on Freshman Field.
The loss was the 29th of the year for the Crusaders and 11th in league play while the Raiders move to 19-25, 7-8 PL with the victory.
Senior

STARTING IN THE CIRCLE:
- Bailey Misken: W, (10-12), complete game, shutout, five hits allowed, walk, five strikeouts.
- Sophomore Sophia Roncone: L, (4-14), complete game, six hits allowed, earned run, four walks, strikeout.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Colgate became the first team to crack the scoring column in the top of the fourth as an RBI double to left field built a 1-0 lead.
- With one out in the fourth, Mott pulled a single down the left field line and junior Callie Thibault followed by smacking a first pitch single to center which put runners at first and second. Holy Cross could not cash in those runners as they trailed 1-0.
- The lead off runner in the sixth reached second base for Colgate following a single and steal. She was gunned down at third base from shortstop off a fielder's choice. A walk made runners at first and second with one out and Roncone stranded the runners to keep her team within one.
- Holy Cross attempted to rally in the sixth via a single and error with one out. A strikeout and fly out ended the scoring threat.
DUE UP:
- Holy Cross travels to Bryant for a nonconference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 23.
- First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
