LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Holy Cross softball team got back in the win column earning a 3-0 shutout victory in game one of a nonconference doubleheader at Siena before falling 8-5 in game two Tuesday.
The Crusaders picked up their ninth win of the season while the Saints move to 22-13.

Sophia Roncone posted her second complete game shutout of the season and the third of her career in game one. Over her two seasons with the Crusaders, she has 12 compete games and three shutouts.

Jessica Mott tallied their second three hit efforts of the campaign during the victory. Mott recorded her 36th career double and needs four more for the program's all-time record. Freshman
Emma Pietrzak belted her first career home run, a solo shot.

- Nicole Patille: 2.0 innings pitched, two hits allowed, walk.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Sophomore Ali Sniegocki: 3-for-4, run scored.
- Senior Jessica Mott: 3-for-3, double, stolen base.
- Freshman Emma Pietrzak: 2-for-3, home run, walk, RBI, two runs scored.
- Emma Petersen: 2-for-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Crusaders struck for three hits in the top of the first. Sniegocki led off the game with a single up the middle and was brought home when Yurchick singled through the right side for the 1-0 Holy Cross edge.
- With two outs, Sniegocki singled to short scoring Pietrzak from second base to up the Crusader lead to 2-0.
- Pietrzak increased the lead to 3-0 bashing the first pitch of the fourth inning over the wall for her first career homer.
- Back-to-back singles with one out in the seventh was the start of a rally for Siena. Roncone induced a pop out and a fly out to complete the shutout.
GAME TWO: SAINTS 8, CRUSADERS 5 (FINAL)

- Senior Megan Yurchick: L, (4-13), 2.0 innings pitched, three hits allowed, two walks, five earned runs.

- Freshman Maya Gallagher: 4.0 innings pitched, six hits allowed, earned run, two walks, two strikeouts.
- Diana Parker: W, (1-0), 3.0 innings pitched, three hits allowed, two earned runs, three walks.
- Alissa Eimont: S, (3), 0.1 innings pitched, hit allowed, strikeout.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Sophomore Jenna Alesandrelli: 2-for-3, RBI, walk.
- Senior Morgan Jensen: 2-for-3, RBI.
- Avamarie Perry: 2-for-4, double, three RBI, run scored.
- Jocelyn Ulrich: 2-for-2, three runs scored, two walks, stolen base.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Siena took the lead in the second loading the bases with a single, walk and hit by pitch. A two-run double combined with a sacrifice fly and RBI groundout built a 4-0 edge.
- Sophomore Anna Brait lofted a sacrifice fly for the Crusaders first run of the game to make it 4-1.
- Two run scoring singles in the third pushed the lead to 6-1 for Siena.
- Holy Cross countered with two runs of their own in the fourth with Jensen pulling a single to left plating a run and trimming the deficit to 6-3.
- Two insurance runs late increased Siena's lead to 8-3.
- Holy Cross attempted a rally in the seven loading the bases. Junior Callie Thibault lofted a sacrifice fly cutting the advantage in half to 8-4. An eventual game winning pop up to catcher dropped on the infield keeping the bases loaded and the game at 8-5. Siena retired the last batter to complete the split.
DUE UP:
- Holy Cross completes their road trip on Wednesday, April 17 at Rhode Island.
- First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m.
