BOSTON – The Holy Cross softball team dropped a 4-0 decision to Patriot League opponent #21/#24 Boston University Sunday afternoon on the BU Softball Field.

The loss was 24th on the year for the Crusaders and ninth in league play. The nationally-ranked Terriers (35-4, 9-0 PL) have won eight straight games and 24 in a row at home.

STARTING IN THE CIRCLE:

• Kasey Ricard: W, (17-3), complete game, shutout, three hits allowed, 11 strikeouts.
• Sophomore Sophia Roncone: L, (3-11), complete game, five hits allowed, two earned runs, three walks, two strikeouts.

STEPPING TO THE PLATE:

• Senior Megan Yurchick: 1-for-3.
• Sophomore Anna Brait: 1-for-3.
• Senior Morgan Jensen: 1-for-2.
• Kylie Doherty: 2-for-2, home run, three RBI, walk, run scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Yurchick legged out an infield single up the middle for the Crusaders' first hit of the game in the top of the first.
• A lead off walk and then a two-run homer on the next pitch pushed the Terriers ahead 2-0 in the second.
• BU expanded the lead to 3-0 via an error and double in the home half of the third. The runner was tagged out in a pickle between second and third.
• The Terriers loaded the bases in the fifth and could only score one run as they led 4-0.
• In the sixth, Jensen singled to center with one down. She was stranded at first base as Holy Cross still trailed.
• Brait singled with one out in the seventh to the opposite field. She was lifted for a pinch runner, sophomore Abbie Gold, but she was left at first.

DUE UP:

• Holy Cross remains on the road this coming Tuesday, April 16 for a nonconference doubleheader at Siena.
• First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
