RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The Holy Cross baseball team came up short against California-Riverside, falling by a score of 7-4 on Friday, March 8.

THE DECISION:
W: Orozco (2-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Crusaders had an early 2-0 lead after sophomore right fielder CJ Egrie drew a leadoff walk and junior designated hitter Chris Baillargeon hit a two-run homer.
- The Highlanders got a run back after a double and an ensuing error in the bottom of the second.
- In the top of the fifth, junior left fielder Connor Cooney drew a leadoff walk and came around to score after an RBI double by sophomore third baseman Cam Bryant, giving Holy Cross a 3-1 lead.
- UC Riverside tallied three runs in the bottom of the fifth and three more in the bottom of the sixth to jump out to a 7-3 advantage.
- Holy Cross was unable to score again until the top of the ninth, when freshman catcher Colin Brown walked and later scored on an RBI single from Baillargeon.
DUE UP:
- The Crusaders and Highlanders face off again in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 9.
- First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
