STORRS, Conn. — The 10th seeded Holy Cross women's ice hockey team took on first seeded No. 11 UConn for the quarterfinals of the Hockey East tournament. After a hard fought battle the Huskies took the 4-2 victory to end the Crusaders postseason run.
UConn netted one goal in the first period on the power-play. The Huskies scored two in the second period. With five seconds left in the second, senior forward Lilly Feeney lifts one over the shoulder of UConn's goalie to get on the board. She was assisted by junior forward Madison Michals. The Huskies tack on another goal in the third period but the Crusaders continued to battle back. Freshman forward Lulu Rourke ripped a shot near the blue line which fellow freshman forward Reghan Chadwick redirected into the back of net to cut the Huskies lead in half. UConn held Holy Cross off for the 4-2 win.
Senior goalie Madison Beck was in between the pipes for the Crusaders and made a total of 24 saves in the outing. She concludes the season with a 2.80 goals against average with a .909 save percentage.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Huskies struck first with a power-play goal at 10:44 in the first period for a one-goal lead.
- UConn extended the lead to 2-0 in the second period with a goal at 9:39. The Huskies netted a short-handed goal at 1:37. Holy Cross scored a goal by Feeney at 0:05.
- UConn netted one last goal at 17:52 in the third period. The Crusaders battled back with a goal by Chadwick at 9:44. The Huskies came out with the 4-2 win.

- The Crusaders conclude the 2023-24 season with a 8-24-3 overall record and 4-20-3 conference record.
