WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore guard
Will Batchelder scored a season-high 20 points, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Boston University 94-84 at Case Gymnasium. The Crusaders fall to 9-22 overall and 6-12 in the Patriot League with the loss, while the Terriers improve to 15-16 on the season and 10-8 in the conference.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross made 50.8 percent of its field goal attempts, 39.1 percent of its three-pointers and 76.5 percent of its free throws on the day.
• Boston University was able to connect on 50.9 percent of its shots from the floor, 45.8 percent of its attempts from beyond the arc and 96.2 percent of its foul shots.
• Senior guard
Joe Octave totaled 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists on the afternoon.
• Junior forward
Caleb Kenney posted 18 points, seven rebounds and three steals, while senior guard
Bo Montgomery added 12 points.
• The Terriers were led by Anthony Morales with 20 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Crusaders opened the game by jumping out to an early 10-6 lead after the first 3:45 of action.
• Boston University scored the next five points to pull in front, and was later up 20-16 with 12 minutes left in the first half.
• The Terriers then used an 8-0 run to go extend their advantage to double figures, and went on to lead 53-36 at halftime.
• Holy Cross started the second half hot, using a 16-3 spurt to trim the margin to four points (56-52) with 15 minutes left to play.Â
• The Crusaders would close to within three (60-57), before Boston University hit back-to-back three-pointers to go back up by nine (66-57) with 13:18 to play.
• After the Terriers extended the lead back to 12 (86-74) with 2:34 remaining, Holy Cross scored the next six points to make the score 86-80.
• But Boston University hit all eight of its free throw attempts in the final minute to hold on for the win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Octave scored the 1,000th point on his collegiate career on a put back with 16:30 remaining in the second half.
UP NEXT:
• The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, March 5, when they travel to Army West Point for a first round game in the Patriot League Tournament.
