PROVIDENCE – The Holy Cross softball team split a pair of nonconference games on Wednesday at Brown falling 7-2 in game one before rolling to an 8-3 victory in game two on the Brown Softball Field.
Holy Cross moves to 5-10 on the year while the Bears go to 4-7.
Senior
Jessica Mott had a big doubleheader hitting .625 (5-for-8) with a double, an RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base. Her three hit showing in game two was the third of her career and the double was the 33rd in her career and she needs seven more to set the program's all-time record.
Sophomore
Ali Sniegocki extended her hitting streak to 10 games finishing the twinbill 2-for-7 (.286) with aa double and an RBI. Classmate
Anna Brait has reached base in 10 straight games for the Crusaders which is tied for the longest reached base streak of the season.
In game two,
Megan Yurchick tossed her 22nd career complete game and struck out a season-high eight batters while the Crusader bats belted seven doubles during the win.

- Freshman Avery Toddings: 1.0 innings pitched, hit allowed, earned run, two walks, strikeout.
- Freshman Maya Gallagher: 1.0 innings pitched, two hits allowed, walk.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Jessica Mott: 2-for-4, run scored.
- Ali Sniegocki: 1-for-3, run scored.
- Anna Brait: 1-for-3, double RBI.
- Moe Kastens: 3-for-4, double, two RBI.
- Dara English: 2-for-2, double, RBI, two runs scored, walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mott led off the game with a single and stole second. With two outs, she came around to score via a Brown throwing error for the 1-0 lead.
- Brown struck for three runs in the bottom of the third with three consecutive singles to level the score 1-1. A sacrifice fly put them ahead 2-1 and a single to left increased the margin to 3-1.
- An error combined with an infield single put the lead to 5-1 in favor of Brown.
- In the top of the sixth, Sniegocki legged out an infield single and came around to score on a Brait opposite field double as Holy Cross trailed 5-2.
- Brown tacked on two runs in the next half inning for the 7-2 lead.

GAME TWO: CRUSADERS 8, BEARS 3 (FINAL)

- Macy Borowski: L, (1-4), 4.0 innings pitched, eight hits allowed, six earned runs, strikeout.

- Jodie Aguirre: 3.0 innings pitched, three hits allowed, two earned runs, walk, two strikeouts.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Jessica Mott: 3-for-4, double, RBI, two runs scored, stolen base.
- Sophomore Jenna Alesandrelli: 2-for-3, double, two RBI, run scored.
- Anna Brait: 1-for-3, double, RBI, run scored, walk.
- Senior Morgan Jensen: 1-for-3, double, RBI.
- Lilly Burns: 3-for-3, three doubles, two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sniegocki doubled in the top of the first to extend her hitting streak to 10 games and moved the Crusaders ahead 1-0. Brait followed with another opposite field double plating Sniegocki. With two down, Alesandrelli singled up the middle to push the Crusaders ahead 4-0.
- A Brown double to left center with two down cut the Crusader lead in half, 4-2 through two frames.
- Brown scored another run in the third to make it 4-3. Â
- Jensen and Mott provided RBI base knocks to increase the lead to 6-3 through four and a half frames.
- In the seventh, freshman Ava Gambichler and junior Callie Thibault tacked on RBIs to move ahead 8-3.

DUE UP:
- Holy Cross is back in action on Friday, March 15 for the Eagle Round Robin and will play host Boston College (13-8). Â
- First pitch is set for 5 p.m. in Chestnut Hill.
