Bronagh Power-Cassidy voted Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Bronagh Power-Cassidy of the Holy Cross women's basketball team has been named the 2023-24 Patriot League Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year as voted on by the league's sports information directors announced by the conference office Monday morning.
 
Power-Cassidy, a psychology major posted a 3.77 cumulative GPA and is a five-time Dean's List recipient at Holy Cross. She becomes the seventh different student-athlete in program history to be voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the first since Brittany Keli in 2005-06. This is also the second consecutive year she was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
 
An All-League first team student-athlete, Power-Cassidy has started and played in 27 games for the Crusaders and set new personal bests in scoring (16.6), rebounds per game (4.8), 3-pointers (65), field goals made (169) and minutes per game (33.0). The preseason All-Patriot League selection paces Holy Cross in scoring, 3-pointers, 3-point percentage (39.6), field goals made and minutes per game. In the conference rankings, the two-time Patriot League Player of the Week finished the regular season tied for first in the league in 3-pointers per game (2.4), and is third in scoring, third in 3-pointers, fourth in field goal percentage (45.2) and sixth in minutes per game.

During league contests, the two-time team captain increased her production by leading the Patriot League in 3-point percentage (42.7), 3-pointers (50) and 3-pointers per game (2.8) while ranking second in scoring (18.0), fifth in field goal percentage (48.0) and tied for seventh in minutes per game (32.8).

In 2023-24, Power-Cassidy scored her 1,000th career point in the Hart Center Arena during a victory against Northeastern (Dec. 17) and climbed to fifth place on the program's career 3-pointer list with (181). She has scored 30+ points twice and has nine 20+ point efforts. Holy Cross is 7-2 (.778) when she scores 20 or more points this season.
 
Off the court, Power-Cassidy is a women's basketball SAAC representative and participates in Team IMPACT.

The Patriot League Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and Academic All-Patriot League team honors student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. The awards are nominated and voted on by the Patriot League women's basketball sports information directors. To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport.
