Men’s basketball falls at Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. – Senior guard Bo Montgomery totaled 10 points and six rebounds, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Lafayette 75-59 at the Kirby Sports Center. The Crusaders fall to 7-17 overall and 4-7 in the Patriot League, while the Leopards improve to 10-14 on the season and 9-2 in the conference.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross made just 36.7 percent of its field goal attempts and 35.0 percent of its three-pointers on the night, while committing 12 turnovers.
• Lafayette was able to hit 50.0 percent of its shots from the floor and 47.4 percent of its attempts from beyond the arc.
• Freshman guard Kahlil Singleton finished the game with 10 points and three rebounds, while junior forward Caleb Kenney tallied eight points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots.
• With his second block of the night at the 13:25-mark of the first half, Kenney became the 11th player in program history with 100 career blocked shots.
• Eric Sondberg led the Leopards with 16 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The game was close early on, and the Crusaders held a 22-21 lead with 6:26 remaining before the break. 
• Lafayette then scored 13 straight points over the next four minutes to go in front by 12 (34-22).
• The Leopards eventually held a 34-26 advantage heading into the locker room.
• Holy Cross kept things close early in the second half, trimming the deficit to five (46-41) with 12:47 left to play.
• But Lafayette used an 11-1 spurt over the next four and a half minutes to take a 15-point lead (57-42).
• The Crusaders would get no closer than 13 points the rest of the way, as the Leopards eventually posted a 16-point victory.
