BURLINGTON, Vt. — The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team continued its two game series with Vermont (UVM) for the final game of the season series. The Crusaders netted a late goal in the third period to send the game into overtime but the Catamounts came out with the 3-2 win.
The Crusaders got on the board midway through the second period with a power-play goal scored by sophomore forward Lane Lewis assisted by forwards freshman Reghan Chadwick and sophomore Charlotte Sonntag. The Catamounts replied two minutes later with a game tying goal and followed by a late power-play goal to end the second period 2-1. With four minutes left in regulation senior forward Lilly Feeney netted the equalizer with two great finds from senior forwards Bryn Saarela and Millie Sirum to force the game into overtime. In overtime the Crusaders went on the penalty kill early and UVM capitalized on the advantage for the 3-2 win.
Senior goalie Madison Beck was between the pipes making a total of 24 saves in the outing.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lewis scored on the power-play at 11:13 in the second period. UVM answered with a goal at 13:20 and a power-play goal at 18:07
- Feeney netted a power-play goal at 16:02 to send the game into overtime
- The Catamounts came out with the 3-2 win with a power-play goal scored at 2:58 in overtime.
