Women’s basketball hits the road to take on Colgate

The Holy Cross women's basketball team returns to the court at Patriot League opponent Colgate on Wednesday, Feb. 28 for a 6 p.m. tip-off on Cotterell Court. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (16-10, 10-5 PL): 
  • Holy Cross is coming off a 71-63 Senior Day victory Saturday afternoon against Navy. Senior Janelle Allen matched a career-high with 20 points while classmate Cara McCormack recorded her first career double-double with 16 points and a personal-high 10 rebounds.
  • McCormack who stands at 5 foot, 3 inches, became only the third player in the NCAA this season to record 10 or more rebounds in a game. Buffalo's Rana Elhusseini (5-3) (10 reb, at Miami (OH) - 2/7/24, 11 pts, 10 reb, 10 ast, vs. Southern Miss. - 2/10/24) and Colorado State's McKenna Hofschild (5-2) (36 pts, 10 reb, at Montana - 12/9/23) are the only players in the NCAA 5-3 or shorter with double-digit rebounds in a game this season.
  • Senior Bronagh Power-Cassidy was named the PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday. Power-Cassidy averaged a conference best 21.5 points with 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks over 38.5 minutes per game in a 2-0 week for the first place Crusaders. She shot 45.2% (14-of-31) from the field and 80% (8-of-10) from the line.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS (15-11, 8-7 PL): 
  • Following a seven game losing skid, Colgate has put together a four game winning streak including a 72-60 win on the road at American on Saturday. Taylor Golembiewski scored a team-high 15 points snagging nine rebounds and handing out six assists in the victory.
  • During Colgate's four game winning streak, they have a +14.8 scoring margin holding opponents to 51.8 points per game and 18.4 percent (7-of-38) three-point shooting.
  • Across 15 conference contests, Colgate leads the Patriot League in field goal percentage (44.9), three-point percentage (41.2), three-point percentage defense (26.0), assists (226) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.23).
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 61-12 (.836) in the series history against Colgate dating back to 1991.
  • Colgate has won the last two meetings including a 60-43 win back on Feb. 14. Taylor Golembiewski scored 14 points to go with seven rebounds in the victory.
