WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross women's ice hockey concluded the 2023-24 regular season taking on Maine for game two of the season finale. The Crusaders took a tough 5-2 loss to the Black Bears.

In the first period, Holy Cross got on the board midway through with a putback goal scored by junior forward Madison Michals at 11:08. She was assisted by sophomore forwards, Lane Lewis and Alexia Moreau. Less than five minutes later and sophomore defenseman Taylor Cantelon right off the faceoff taken by freshman forward Emily Crovo. Maine answered back with a goal of their own just before the period ended. In the second period the Black Bears notched three goals to put themselves ahead with a two goal lead. Maine tacked on one last goal in the third period for the 5-2 win.

Senior goalie Madison Beck was in net for the Crusaders making a total of 29 saves in the outing.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Holy Cross scored at 11:08 in the first period with a goal by Moreau and again at 15:47 with Cantelon scoring. Maine netted a goal at 17:29 to end the first with a 2-1 result.
• The Black Bears scored three goals in the second period at 7:03 (PP), 10:29 (PP) and 17:12.
• Maine scored one last goal at 10:03 in the third period to claim the 5-2 win over the Crusaders.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• Canetlon scored her first collegiate goal.

UP NEXT: 

• Holy Cross will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 28. for the first round of the Hockey East tournament at 7th seed Boston University. Puck drop is set for 6:00 p.m. at Walter Brown Arena.
