Women’s basketball concludes nonconference slate at Northeastern

The Holy Cross women's basketball team ends the 2024 portion of their schedule on Saturday, Dec. 21 at Northeastern. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. from the Cabot Center and the contest will be broadcast regionally on NESN, through the NESN 360 app and FloSports. 

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (6-4, 0-0 PL): 
  • The Crusaders have won two straight games and three of their last four following a 66-49 win against Marist on Tuesday. Holy Cross led by as many as 26 points in the contest. Junior Simone Foreman dropped a career-high 23 points while senior Lindsay Berger (13 points, 11 rebounds) and junior Mary-Elizabeth Donnelly (10 points, 12 rebounds) double-doubled.
  • Foreman has produced 20+ points in three of the last four games. She is averaging 18.3 points on 43.1 percent (25-of-58) shooting and 85.0% (17-of-20) efficiency at the line with 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game over that stretch.
  • Holy Cross has four players averaging double-digit points per game, Simone Foreman (15.0), junior Kaitlyn Flanagan (11.5), Lindsay Berger (10.6) and junior Meg Cahalan (10.0). The Crusaders are the only team in the Patriot League with four players averaging double-digit points per game.
  • The Crusaders have only had their shot blocked 15 times this season which ranks tied for the second fewest in the NCAA (Fairfield, Eastern Michigan).  
  • Over the last three seasons, Holy Cross is 30-24 (.556) on the road compared to 40-12 (.769) at home in the Hart Center Arena.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES (1-7, 0-0 CAA): 
  • Northeastern has lost three straight after falling to nonconference opponent Stonehill 65-49 on Wednesday. Yirsy Queliz scored a game-best 18 points to go with six rebounds, four three-pointers and three assists.
  • As a team, Northeastern ranks 349th out of 353 teams in Division I in scoring offense averaging 49.1 points per game.
  • The Huskies were selected to finish 13th out of 14 teams in the 2024-25 CAA Women's Basketball Preseason Poll.
  • Abby Jegede is the team's leader in free throw percentage (77.8%) which ranks fourth in the CAA.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • The Crusaders are 17-6 (.739) in the series history against the Huskies which began in 1983. Holy Cross is 9-3 (.750) against Northeastern on the road.
  • In their last meeting on Dec. 17, 2023, Holy Cross earned a 65-41 win. Then-junior Lindsay Berger scored six points with a game-high nine rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench.
