Women’s basketball welcomes Marist to campus for Worcester Schools Day presented by Pepsi

The Holy Cross women's basketball team will host nonconference opponent Marist on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 10:30 a.m. for Worcester Schools Day presented by Pepsi. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (5-4, 0-0 PL): 
  • The Crusaders picked up a 73-56 win over Stony Brook on Sunday, Dec. 8. Four players reached double-figures including Simone Foreman who matched a career-high with 21 points. Classmate Meg Cahalan tacked on 18 points of her own with a pair of triples.
  • Holy Cross has four players averaging double-digit points per game, Simone Foreman (14.1), junior Kaitlyn Flanagan (11.3), Meg Cahalan (11.1) and Lindsay Berger (10.3). They are the only team in the Patriot League with four players averaging double-digit points per game.
  • As a team, Holy Cross ranks 27th in the country in free throw percentage (77.0) which is the highest mark in the Patriot League. Simone Foreman is 26-of-29 (89.7%) at the line this year which is 28th in the nation and tops in the conference.
  • The Crusaders have only had their shot blocked 12 times this season which ranks second fewest in the NCAA.
  • Over the last three seasons, Holy Cross is 39-12 (.765) at home in the Hart Center Arena compared to 30-24 (.556) on the road.
SCOUTING THE RED FOXES (5-4, 0-0 MAAC): 
  • Marist has won two straight games and three of their last four after defeating Bryant 63-52 on Dec. 7 in Smithfield, R.I. Morgan Lee scored a team-high 21 points with seven rebounds, seven turnovers, three assists, and three three-pointers in the victory.
  • Jackie Piddock ranks 10th in the NCAA in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.4) which is the best mark in the MAAC. As a team, Marist is 21st in the country in fouls per game (13.9), that number also paces the conference.
  • Marist earned 43 points in the 2024 MACC Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll and was projected to finish 11th out of 13 teams in the league.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • The Crusaders are 7-1 (.875) in the series history against the Red Foxes which began in 1983. Holy Cross is 4-0 (1.000) against Marist in the Hart Center Arena.
  • In their last meeting on Nov. 14, 2017, Marist earned an 85-74 victory over Holy Cross in Poughkeepsie.
