Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Crusaders fall on the road to Brown

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's hockey team traveled to Brown for an afternoon non-conference matchup on Sunday, Dec. 1. The Bears came out with the 4-1 win over the Crusaders.

BETWEEN THE PIPES:
Holy Cross: Abby Hornung (L, 3-5-0), 48 saves 
Brown: Anya Zupkofska (W, 2-2-1), 18 saves 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • In the first period, Brown netted back-to-back goals at 9:28, netted by Margot Norehad, and 9:55, scored by Ava DeCoste. The Crusaders responded at 14:48 with forwards Charlotte Sonntag and assistant captain Emily Crovo finding junior forward Lane Lewis on the outlet pass to cut the Bears lead in half.
  • In the second period, the Bears reclaimed a two-goal lead at 2:08 scored by Ella Murlat.
  • In the third period, Holy Cross pulled its goalie to have an extra skater advantage but Norehad came out of a scuffle in front of the net with the puck and scored an empty netter at 18:35. The Bears took the 4-1 win over the Crusaders.
  • Brown led Holy Cross 52-36 in shots on goal and 34-26 in face-offs to conclude the game. 

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE: 

  • Hornung had a career-high of 48 saves
  • Lewis scored her fourth goal on the season

UP NEXT: 
The Crusaders return to action on Friday, Dec. 6 at 6:00 pm. when host Boston College for their Holiday Toy Drive event in the Hart Center Rink.
