Field Hockey rounds out season at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Holy Cross field hockey team fell to Lehigh in its final game of the 2024-25 regular season, 5-2, on Saturday morning at Ulrich Field.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior Meggan Fourie picked up her 14th goal of the season, sending in a shot on the penalty corner opportunity off a pass from junior Julia Carrozza.
  • Lehigh erased the Crusaders lead in the second period, netting three in the frame to take a 3-1 lead into the half.
  • Fourie struck for her second goal of the game in the third quarter, picking up a rebound off a shot by junior Kendall Blomquist, and walking the ball into the goal to cut the Lehigh lead to one.
  • Lehigh struck again five minutes later to extend the lead back to three, then netted their fifth goal of the game with just over two minutes remaining in regulation to seal the victory.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Freshman Mia McCloskey made eight saves in the contest. McCloskey finishes her freshman campaign with a 7-10 record, 127 saves, 2.58 goals-against average, and .738 save percentage. Her 7.47 saves per game and 127 saves lead the Patriot League, while her save percentage is the third highest in the league.
  • Fourie recorded her eighth defensive save of the season, which is the second-highest mark in the Patriot League and second-highest mark in the nation.
  • Fourie's 15 goals, 33 points, and 1.94 points per game rank second in the Patriot League.
 
UP NEXT:
  • Holy Cross will return to action in the 2025-26 season.
