WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior goalie Abby Hornung has been named Hockey East Stop It Goaltending Co-Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league Monday. Hornung shares the honor with Boston College's Grace Campbell. The Crusader has earned this Hockey East weekly award for competition from Nov. 4 – 10.
Hornung had a standout performance in goal, in only her seventh career game played, at Vermont on Saturday, Nov. 9. She made a total of 28 saves, earned the win and played a crucial role in the 2-1 overtime victory over the Catamounts. She had a 0.97 goals-against average with a .966 save percentage on the weekend.
Holy Cross women's ice hockey (5-5-1, 2-4-1) returns to action on Nov. 15 when they host New Hampshire (6-5-1, 3-5-0) for game one of a two-game set. Puck drop is slated for 6 p.m. at the Hart Center Rink for their CrossCheck Awareness game. The competition will be followed by a post-game skate with the team.
