The Holy Cross men's basketball team is set to open up Patriot League play this Wednesday, Jan. 3, when it travels to Bucknell for a 7 p.m. game. The contest between the Crusaders and the Bison will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross stands 3-10 on the year, including a 68-67 victory at Georgetown on Nov. 11. The Crusaders are coming off an 88-60 win over Elms on Dec. 29. Senior guard
Joe Octave leads the team with averages of 14.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, while hitting 46.8 percent of his field goal attempts. Junior forward
Caleb Kenney has posted 9.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game, with sophomore guard
Will Batchelder putting up 7.7 points, and 1.6 assists per contest and freshman forward
Joe Nugent adding 6.6 points and 5.1 boards per game.
Holy Cross head coach
Dave Paulsen served as the head coach at Bucknell from 2008-2015, posting an overall record of 134-94 while winning two Patriot League Tournament titles.
Bucknell enters the game with an overall mark of 3-10. The Bison have dropped three straight games and are coming off a 67-58 loss against St. Peter's on Dec. 30. Senior guard Jack Forrest leads the team by averaging 15.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest, while hitting 89.5 percent of his foul shots. Sophomore center Noah Williamson is also off to a solid start this year, with averages of 11.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
After the contest at Bucknell, Holy Cross will head to Army West Point for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Jan. 6.
