WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross field hockey team fell to Bryant University in overtime, 2-1, on Tuesday night at the Hart Turf Field.
The Crusaders (2-6) came out strong in the first quarter, outshooting the Bulldogs (5-4) 6-2, though both teams failed to score in the frame. Bryant took the lead early in the second quarter on a shot across the cage.
Freshman
Maguire Sturgis scored her team-leading third goal of the season four minutes into the third quarter to tie the game up at 1-1. After a battle through the defense by senior
Sarah Potter, Sturgis picked up Potter's pass, pushed it to her backhand and sent a reverse chip over Bryant's goalkeeper's head.

Bryant's Olivia Clarke then scored the game-winning goal with 2:42 remaining in overtime to end the game on a late corner.
Senior
Brooke Ross finished the night in goal with four saves, while Bryant's Abby Crowley had ten saves in the win.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, September 30 when they continue their Patriot League schedule in Easton, Pa. against Lafayette College at 12 p.m.
