WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team took on Army West Point at home for their Cousy Cup game on Wednesday, Sept. 20. After a hard fought battle on both sides of the field, neither team scored and the match resulted in a 0-0 tie.
Junior goalkeeper Julia Walsh posted her second shutout in a row in goal for the Crusaders. The Holy Cross backline blocked a total of three shots in the game to keep the Black Knights off the scoreboard.
"I think it's a really good point. You know, Army is one of the best teams in the league, much better than their record suggests, so I'm really happy with that," said head coach Ben Graham. "We kept a shutout, we fought exceptionally hard, we worked very hard. I thought we competed great and we move onwards. It's a good point in the league. And then we move onwards to American on Sunday."

"I mean, I couldn't do it without my back line. Cerys [Balmer], Fran [Francesca Ciatto], Em [Emily Bubonovich], Grace [Soltesz] and when Alyssa [Pettet] steps in when we need it. Having a solid back line makes it pretty easy to shutout the game. So I give all my credit to them and them giving a hundred percent effort." #28 Julia Walsh
-
"Really proud of us today. The back line keeping a clean sheet is awesome and we want to keep the momentum going for this weekend. I thought we battled, worked hard and competed the entire game, so I'm really proud of us." #19 Grace Soltesz
