Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Crusaders draw with CCSU in 1-1 result

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team made their way to New Britain, Conn. to face off with the Blue Devils on Thursday night. The Crusaders made it on the board early but Central Connecticut (CCSU) tied the game up in the second half resulting in a 1-1 tie after 90 minutes.

In the first half, senior midfielder Sydney Baldwin intercepted a pass from the Blue Devils back line and launched a long shot into the top left corner of the goal to give the Crusaders the lead at the 23:34 mark.

In the second half, CCSU equalized with a goal in the 72nd minute off a cross near the end line to a charging Blue Devil who sent it in.

Going into this game, we were expecting a really good team and they were really good. They've had a good history but we wanted to go at them a little bit. So when that ball came in and I saw the goalie was out of position, I was like, 'I'm gonna shoot'. I shot it and it went in. I was so excited," said Baldwin. "We wanted to go into the second half, not playing for a tie but to get ahead and attack them. Unfortunately, they scored, but overall I think the past three games we've been undefeated which is incredible. We haven't done that in a long time. So I think that's shown a lot of progress and growth for this team. We're gonna take that momentum and go into Sienna on Sunday to get a win."
