WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team took on the Saint at home on Sunday, Sept. 3. After a scoreless first half, Siena had back-to-back goals to take a 2-0 lead. The Crusaders battled back and got one on the board but just came up short for the 2-1 loss.

Siena made the first move on the scoreboard early in the second half with back-to-back goals knocked in off corner kicks. The Saint scored both goals in the matter of two minutes to take a 2-0 lead.

The Crusaders had a slow start to begin the second half but managed to rally despite a two goal deficit. Senior midfielder Cerys Balmer got the Crusaders on the board to cut the Saints lead in half. Balmer drove in a goal on the low left side of the net off a cross from senior midfielder Allie Waters. Holy Cross took a total of 12 shots in the second half with multiple close chances but ultimately ran out of time for the 2-1 defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• In the second half, Siena scored one goal at the 52:44 mark and just moments later another at the 53:51 mark.

• The Crusaders scored in the second half at the 75:36 mark by Balmer

• Holy Cross out-shot the Saints 18-12 in the match leading 10-6 in corners.

INSIDE THE BOX:

• Balmer tacked on her fourth goal of the season to cut the Saints lead in half.
