CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Holy Cross baseball team came up short against Harvard, falling 6-5 in a non-conference contest on Tuesday, March 28.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sophomore left fielder Connor Cooney walked to lead off the game and stole second. He would later come around to score after junior third baseman Jake McElroy singled up the middle.
- Harvard tied the game in the bottom half of the first, when Ben Rounds doubled and scored after a pair of wild pitches.
- The Crusaders took the lead back in the top of the second after freshman center fielder Jack Toomey hit a two-run single with the bases loaded.
- Holy Cross then tacked on another run when freshman right fielder Jake Jaszcz scored on a wild pitch to make it a 4-1 game in the top of the third.
- Harvard slowly climbed back into the game, with an RBI single in the bottom of the third and then a two-run single in the fifth inning to knot the score at 4-4.
- The Crimson got the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the sixth inning and went up 6-4 after a sac fly in the seventh.
- The Crusaders cut the score to 6-5 when junior catcher Patrick Casserly drew a walk to lead off the top of the eighth and then scored on a two-out double to center by Toomey. However, Holy Cross could not string together any more runs over the remainder of the contest.
DUE UP:
- Holy Cross returns home for a weekend Patriot League series, beginning with a doubleheader against Navy on Saturday, April 1.
- First pitch is set for 12 p.m. at Fitton Field.
