BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team fell to Canisius, 3-0, in the Atlantic Hockey Championship Saturday night at the LECOM Harborcenter. With the win, Canisius earned the Atlantic Hockey Association's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The two teams were scoreless through the first period which saw the Golden Griffins hold a slight edge in shots, 7-6. Holy Cross went on the power play in the first minute of the period, while Canisius had their own opportunity two minutes later, though both sides failed to score.
Canisius' Nick Bowman broke the tie with what proved to be the game winning goal with just over two minutes remaining in the second period. Despite outshooting the Golden Griffins 10-6, the Crusaders could not find a way past netminder Jacob Barczewski.Â
Holy Cross pulled netminder
Jason Grande with three minutes remaining in the third period. Canisius netted two empty net goals to cement their victory while Grande was out of the net.
Grande finished the night with 22 saves, rounding out his playoff tally with 188Â saves in seven games. Barczewski tallied 24 in the win.

Jack Robilotti and sophomore forward
Liam McLinskey were named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Tournament Team for their efforts over the playoffs. Robilotti finished the playoffs with 14 blocked shots, while McLinskey scored an AHA record nine goals over the first two series'.
