SUGAR LAND, Texas — The Holy Cross baseball team couldn't contain Purdue, falling 12-2 in the final contest of a four-game series on Sunday, Feb. 19 at Constellation Field.

THE DECISION:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Purdue took an early 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the second inning.
- Junior left fielder Jake McElroy hit a one-out double in the top of the third, and a single to right by sophomore designated hitter Sean Scanlon drove in McElroy to even things up at 1-1.
- The Boilermakers put up a four-run inning in the bottom of the third, and a pair of solo homers in the fifth inning extended their lead to 7-1.
- Sophomore pinch hitter Connor Cooney drew a walk to lead off the seventh inning, and made his way around to third after a stolen base and a wild pitch. He would later score on a double play to bring Holy Cross within 7-2.
- Jake Jarvis hit a three-run homer to extend the Purdue advantage to 10-2 in the bottom of the seventh.
- A two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth pushed the Purdue lead to 12-2 to conclude the contest.
DUE UP:
- Holy Cross is set to play a four-game series at VMI beginning on Friday, Feb. 24.
- Friday's single game is set to begin at 3 p.m. ET.
