Women’s basketball plays final road game in 2023 at Quinnipiac

The Holy Cross women's basketball team hits the road for the final time in 2023 as they travel to Quinnipiac for a 2 p.m. tip-off on Sunday, Dec. 10. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (4-4, 0-0 PL): 
  • The Crusaders are coming off a dominant 80-39 win at home against Connecticut College on Thursday evening. Sophomore Meg Cahalan scored a career-high 17 points with three assists and three blocks in 14 minutes off the bench. Junior Lindsay Berger dropped 17 points on 70 percent (7-of-10) shooting with six boards, three assists, three blocks and three thefts.
  • On Thursday, Holy Cross recorded 30 assists in the victory. The last time a Crusader team recorded 30 more assists was versus DePaul on Dec. 6, 2003.
  • Holy Cross has allowed their last three opponents to score only 39.0 points per game. During this stretch, teams are being held to 28.8 percent (47-of-163) shooting, 20.8 percent (10-of-48) three-point efficiency and have been outrebounded 47.3-to-33.0.
  • Senior Bronagh Power-Cassidy has scored 977 points in her collegiate career and needs 23 more to become the 36th member of the program's 1,000 point club. She also has converted 126 three-pointers and needs 16 for 142, which would crack the top-10 all-time in program history.
  • As a team, Holy Cross ranks third in the NCAA in field goal percentage defense (31.9 percent), sixth in defensive rebounds per game (33.1), 12th in scoring defense (51.1) and 13th in rebounds per game (46.2).  
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS (2-5, 0-0 MAAC): 
  • Quinnipiac has lost three of their last four games including a 79-70 loss to Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major no. 2 Princeton on Wednesday. Grace LaBarge was productive off the bench with a game-high 20 points while not missing a shot in 27 minutes of action.
  • The Bobcats finished 2022-23 with a 21-9 mark and 16-4 record in MACC play, but lost to Manhattan in the MAAC Quarterfinals. They entered the year no. 5 in the 2023-24 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll and Jackie Grisdale was selected to the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team.
  • Grisdale is the top three-point threat for the Bobcats. She is tied for the MACC lead with 2.4 three-point conversions per contest. Anna Foley is second in the MAAC with a 2.2 assist/turnover ratio.
  •  Quinnipiac is currently last in the MAAC in rebounds per game (29.7).
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 5-1 in the series against Quinnipiac which began back in 1980.  
  • In their last meeting on Nov. 16, 2016, the Bobcats came away with a 78-55 win in Worcester. Infiniti Thomas-Waheed scored a team-best 12 points with eight rebounds and two assists for the Crusaders.
