CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Freshman forward Declan Ryan scored a career-high 14 points, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Boston College 95-64 at Conte Forum. The Crusaders fall to 2-8 overall, while the Eagles improve to 7-3 on the year.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After Boston College scored the first seven points of the night, Holy Cross used a 9-5 run to make it a three-point game (12-9).
• The Eagles were able to build their lead up to 11 points (28-17) with four minutes left before the break, when the Crusaders scored nine straight points to close to within two (28-26).
• Boston College eventually took a 33-31 edge into the locker room at halftime.
• Holy Cross tied up the score at 34-34 early in the second half, before the Eagles used a 17-2 spurt to pull in front. 
• The Crusaders would get no closer than 12 points the rest of the way, and Boston College pulled away in the closing minutes to win by 31. 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross made just 39.6 percent of its field goal attempts and 34.6 percent of its three-pointers on the night, in addition to committing 19 turnovers.
• The Eagles were able to connect on 47.3 percent of their shots from the floor, 37.9 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc and 93.9 percent of their foul shots, while holding a 41-30 rebounding advantage.
• Freshman guard A.J. Wills finished the game with career highs of 11 points and four assists.
• All told, freshmen combined for 48 of the Crusaders' 64 points.
• Jaeden Zachery led Boston College with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists.
