Men’s basketball wins non-league finale

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward Louth-M Coulibaly totaled a career-high 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists to lead the Holy Cross men's basketball team to an 88-60 victory over Elms at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders improve to 3-10 overall, while the Blazers fall to 2-12 on the year.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The game was close early on, with Holy Cross holding a 25-21 advantage after the first 11 minutes of play.
• The Crusaders then scored 11 straight points to extend their lead to 15 (36-21).
• Holy Cross would go up by as many as 24 points late in the half and eventually took a 52-30 edge into the locker room.
• The Crusaders held a comfortable lead throughout the second half, going up by as many as 29 before finally posting a 28-point victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross made 53.8 percent of its field goal attempts and 44.8 percent of its three-pointers on the afternoon, while holding a 48-26 rebounding advantage.
• The Crusaders also held Elms to 39.1 percent shooting from the floor and 23.8 percent shooting from three-point range.
• Freshman guard Kahlil Singleton recorded 11 points and three rebounds, while sophomore guard Will Batchelder posted 11 points and two boards. 
• Junior forward Caleb Kenney, freshman forward Joe Nugent and freshman guard A.J. Wills added 10 points each.
• Tahquell Cadel led the Blazers with 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.

 BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Holy Cross had six players score in double figures for the first time since Jan. 8, 2014, when it defeated Colgate 73-64.
 
UP NEXT:
• The Crusaders will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 3, when they travel to Bucknell for their Patriot League opener at 7 p.m.
