TOWSON, Md. – The Holy Cross field hockey team defeated Towson, 3-2, in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at the TU Field Hockey Complex.

Senior Sarah Potter got the Crusaders (7-8) on the board with just three seconds remaining in the second quarter. Sophomore Kendall Blomquist was credited with the assist on the score.

Holy Cross extended their lead to 2-0 just 42 seconds into the third quarter on a penalty corner goal by senior Katie Guden, assisted by sophomore Julia Carrozza. The two teams exchanged penalty corner opportunities through the remainder of the quarter, with the Crusaders drawing three, while the Tigers (6-11) received two chances.

With 2:25 remaining in the third frame, freshman Saskia Williams scored her second goal of the season to extend the Crusader lead to three going into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was all Tigers, however, as Towson out-shot the Crusaders 6-0. The Tigers scored on a penalty corner at the 6:08 mark of the period, before cutting the lead to 3-2 with their second score with 2:29 to go.

Senior Brooke Ross made eight saves on the afternoon, while Towson's Tessa Scheenstra recorded six.

The Crusaders return home for their final two games of the regular season, beginning with a Friday matchup against Lindenwood on Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. The matchup will serve as the program's annual Pink Game.
