WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Holy Cross field hockey team fell to American in its final Patriot League game of the regular season, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Jacobs Complex.
The game remained scoreless through the first half, with American (8-7, 5-0 PL) outshooting the Crusaders (6-8, 2-4 PL) 10-0, drawing just one penalty corner opportunity.
American broke the scoreless tie at the 8:04 mark of the third quarter. The lead held until the beginning of the fourth quarter when the Crusaders drew their first corner opportunity of the matchup. Sophomore
Megan Schienbein sent the insert to the stick stop set by senior

Julia Carrozza, who sent the sweep shot towards the cage. Senior
Sarah Potter tipped the ball in the direction of a wide-open Schienbein on the far post, where she was able to bump the ball into the back of the net to tie the game on the Crusaders' first shot of the contest.
The tie did not last long as American was able to regain the lead just over two minutes after the Holy Cross score.
Senior

The Crusaders will look to turn around quickly as they travel to Towson, Md. to face Towson University tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 22, at 12 p.m.
