KINGSTON, R.I. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Olivia Dubin posted a shutout with five saves, as the Holy Cross women's soccer team played Rhode Island to a 0-0 tie at the URI Soccer Complex. The Crusaders move to 0-4-3 on the season, while the Rams now stand 1-4-2 overall.
The best scoring chance of the night for Holy Cross came in the 77th minute, when senior forward
Katie Quinn was fouled from behind in the penalty box after receiving a long pass from sophomore defender
Emily Bubonovich. But the Crusaders were unable to convert on the penalty kick, as Rhode Island goalkeeper Faith Hutchins made a save to keep the game scoreless.
The Rams finished the night with a 10-5 advantage in shots, while Holy Cross held a 9-7 edge in corner kicks.
Holy Cross returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 11, when it travels to Maine for a 12:00 p.m. game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Dubin now has at least three saves in each of her last 10 appearances, dating back to last season.
• The shutout was Dubin's second of the year and the third of her collegiate career.
