WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team was defeated 1-0 Saturday night by Patriot League opponent Lehigh.

The setback keeps the Crusaders (0-7-4) while the Mountain Haws improve to 4-4-1 overall following the competitive and physical affair.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Lehigh goal was scored by senior forward Ryelle Shuey, her third on the season, after Holy Cross had taken a yellow card. Shuey is now the Mountain Hawks top scorer and point leader. The goal was scored 13:59 into the match.
• Holy Cross had a few opportunities to tie the game in the second half. The first came in the 62 minute of play. Senior forward Colleen McIlvenna's shot nearly missed the back of the net, going just high of the cage.
• The Crusaders had two back-to-back corner kicks late in the second half. On the first chance, freshman midfielder Kailee McCabe took a shot on goal, but it was deflected by the Lehigh defenders. Junior midfielder Cerys Balmer took a shot off the deflection but missed left of the net. The next corner was broken up by members of the Mountain Hawks defensive unit.

 
INSIDE THE BOX:

• The Mountain Hawks held the advantage in corner kicks at 7-to-3.
• Each team recorded two shots on goal. 
• Olivia Dubin recorded one save on the night.

 
UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross travels away from campus on Saturday, October 1 for a conference match with Bucknell at 2:00 p.m.
