Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Crusaders fall to Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Penn. – The Holy Cross women's soccer program was defeated 5-1 in their fourth conference match of the season by Bucknell Saturday afternoon.

The loss sends the Crusaders to 0-8-4 on the year while the Bison improve to 6-5-1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Bucknell scored their first goal with only 17 seconds left in the first half. 
  • Sophomore forward Ashley Blaka responded with a goal nine minutes into the second half. She was assisted by junior forward Ellie Zern, her second assist on the year. 
  • The Bison scored a series of goals shortly after Blaka tied the game to take and extend the lead.
INSIDE THE BOX:
  • Ashley Blaka now leads the team in points with 3.
  • The Crusaders were outshot 18-10. Bucknell tallied 11 shots in the second half.
  • Goalkeepers Olivia Dubin and Izzy Castagnetti split time in the net. Dubin recorded two saves and allowed one goal in the first half. Castagnetti made three saves on the night, but allowed the remaining goals from the Bison. 
UP NEXT:
  • Holy Cross remains on the road to continue Patriot League play. The Crusaders will travel to Baltimore, Md. to play Loyola at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct 8.
