SET SCORES:
  • Bison 3, Crusaders 0 (15-25, 24-26, 11-25)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Bucknell built up a 9-3 lead early in the match. A freshman Rachel Johnson kill on the pin stopped the run briefly at 9-4. Senior Halle Carter perfectly placed an ace to make it a 13-9 deficit. The Bison tallied four straight including a free ball kill to increase the margin to 17-9. The Crusaders countered with four of their own as Johnson skied up for a block to make it 17-13. Holy Cross could only muster two more points in the set.
  • Lane and a Bucknell attack miscue pushed the Crusaders in front 6-4. The hosts erupted for seven straight points to lead 11-6. A sophomore Mia Hofacker cross court tip cut the Holy Cross deficit to two, 11-9. The Crusaders came within three a couple of times until an 8-2 spurt moved them ahead 23-21. A Bucknell service error put Holy Cross on the brink of set point 24-22. The Bison recorded the final four markers to complete the second set comeback.
  • Sophomore Lauren Halverson leveled the third set 2-2 early. A 13-3 Bison outburst expanded their advantage to 15-5 before clinching the set and the match.
