RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan forward Gunnar Studenhofft scored a pair of goals to lead the Jaspers to a 2-0 victory over the Holy Cross men's soccer team at Gaelic Field. The Crusaders open the season at 0-1, while Manhattan begins the year at 1-0.
The Jaspers opened the scoring in the 38th minute, when Studenhofft took a long pass in the top right corner of the box and moved toward the center of the field before scoring from 14 yards out. The score remained 1-0 until the 82nd minute, when Studenhofft won a loose ball just over midfield and dribbled toward the top of the box before scoring from 18 yards out.
Manhattan finished the game with a 11-8 advantage in shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Holy Cross returns to action on Sunday, Aug. 28, when it travels to Connecticut for a 7:00 p.m. game.
