WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior
Jordyn Shubrick, a member of the Holy Cross women's track and field team, has been selected as the 2021-2022 winner of the Daniel Allen Sportsmanship Award. Presented by the Holy Cross Varsity Club, the Allen Award goes to the player whose unselfish teamwork and dedication to the good of the team reflect the values lived by Coach Allen. The winning student-athlete need not be a star or even a starter, but a solid performer with an outstanding attitude whose contributions are not frequently recognized. The award is designed to recognize a student-athlete who is dedicated to the good of the team, possesses integrity, and is a great teammate.
Shubrick served as a team captain during her senior year, when she placed second in the weight throw at both the New England and ECAC indoor championships. An All-New England and All-ECAC selection, she also broke the all-time Holy Cross records in the indoor weight throw (18.79 meters at the ECAC Championship) and the outdoor hammer throw (57.47 meters at the Skyhawk Invitational).
Away from the track, Shubrick was a co-founder of Women of Color Athletes, in addition to serving as an admissions tour guide and a mentor on incoming first-generation college students. She was also a three-time selection to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
